However you installed, every fresh My Own Suite ends at the same screen: Create your owner account.

Create your owner account

1. Open the address your install guide ended with. On a cloud server, that is the Finish-setup link the installer printed — it carries a one-time setup key, so use that exact link (the plain suite address will refuse owner setup). On your own hardware, it’s http://home.mos.home/.

2. Fill in your name, email, and a password of at least 12 characters, then retype the password to confirm it (this catches typos). This happens entirely on your own machine — nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

3. Click Create owner. You’re signed in and looking at your Home dashboard.

Two things worth knowing

• Do this promptly after installing. Until an owner exists, the install is unclaimed: on your own hardware anyone on your network could take it, and on a cloud server the printed one-time setup link is the only way in — it stops working once your account exists, so don’t lose it before then (here’s how to recover it if you do).
• Keep the password safe — ideally in a password manager. It is the one key to your suite.

There is exactly one account: yours, the owner. Housemates and family use the apps you install (most have their own accounts and sign-ins); the owner account is for running the suite itself.

Finding your way around

Your suite has two faces, sharing one sign-in:

• The Home dashboard (at home.<your-domain>/) is the daily front door — a tidy page of tiles for every app you install, plus any links you add. This is the page to bookmark and share with the household.
• Suite Manager (at home.<your-domain>/suite-manager/, or via the menu) is the control room — installing apps, backups, updates, settings. You’ll visit it when you’re changing something, not when you’re using the suite.

Good first steps

1. Install your first app. Stirling PDF is a great warm-up — a private PDF toolbox with a one-click install and nothing to configure. Or start with what you actually came for: browse the catalog.
2. Set up backups early. On own hardware, connect an encrypted external drive. On a cloud server, attach and mount a separate encrypted block-storage volume. Then run your first whole-suite backup. See Back up and restore.
